Have you heard of the hotel discount campaign? Keep on reading to find out how you can save up to 5,000 yen on the cost of a hotel and get a 2,000-yen coupon.

Mikyan, as well as being the cute and cuddly mascot of Ehime, is the name of a fantastic deal on hotel rooms that runs on stays between January 4 and March 10. You might not have heard of the Mikyan discount – there is absolutely no information in English about this campaign. We don’t agree with that! Non-Japanese-speaking residents pay taxes, contribute a massive amount to society, and should 100% therefore be able to access the same offers as everyone else. We are trying to change this situation!

The Mikyan discount is available on bookings for hotels in Ehime Prefecture. The discount is only available on hotel bookings made via a travel agent. That’s where we come in!

The campaign has two features. First, a 50% discount or 5,000 yen off the price of a hotel room – whichever is cheaper. So, if a business hotel costs 4,000 yen, you would get it for 2,000 (the 50% discount); if a ryokan was 12,000 yen, you would get it for 7,000 yen (5,000 yen off). Second, you receive a coupon redeemable at participating stores for 2,000 yen if your hotel fee is over 5,000 yen, or 1,000 yen if your hotel fee is under 5,000 yen. So, in the above examples, if your hotel was originally 4,000 yen, you would get a coupon for 1,000 yen; if your hotel was originally 12,000 yen, you would get a coupon for 2,000 yen. It sounds too good to be true right?! Well there are some conditions (read on), but it’s the perfect opportunity to stay in a fancy ryokan, take a trip to an onsen, have a romantic valentine’s day escape, or just celebrate a random Friday!

Now for those conditions:

• You must be a resident of one of the following prefectures: Ehime, Kochi, Tokushima, Kagawa, or Oita.
• You must have received two doses of a Covid-19 vaccination 14 days prior to your date of stay. Alternatively, you will need to show a negative PCR/antigen test taken on the day or day before your date of stay.
• The offer only applies on stays in Ehime that fall between January 4 and March 10.
• Bookings need to be made via a travel agent (that’s us).
• There is limited availability. Discounts will be given on a first-come first-served basis.
• Any cancellations will be subject to the cancellation policy of the individual hotels.
• Ehime Prefecture may withdraw this discount at any time. For instance, if the covid-19 situation worsens.
