Shimanami Kaido
A friend of mine told me they had done a great tour with Miho in Matsuyama so I looked at the website and saw that they also offered a cycle trip. I decided to do the Shimanami Kaido, a 70 km self-guided cycle spanning from Honshu to Shikoku over many bridges and through a number of islands. I wanted to do this but didn’t want the hassle of arranging everything. I am a mature age female traveller and I was travelling on my own. Hidden Japan offer this self-guided tour over 3 days. They were not able to offer the 3-day tour for me due to other commitments and booked out accommodation . However, They were very quick to come up with different alternatives for me including suggestions on how to get there. They organised the ride and accommodation over 2 days instead of 3, they also contacted me when I arrived in Matsuyama to see if I needed anything. I met Miho who set up the bike for me, a well maintained excellent bike ) gave me maps, suggestions and directions. The accommodation they arranged for me was fabulous, clean, comfortable, great views and the food was superb. The staff were really friendly and attentive even though they spoke no English. I was the only foreigner there. Miho gave me exact details on how to catch the ferry to Onomichi and she was there to meet me at the end of the trip. I was able to just cycle and enjoy my two days cycling and not spend time looking for or organise bikes, accommodation etc I highly recommend touring with Hidden Japan. They offer very personalized service and have a very professional attitude and attention to detail. I would love to go back and do more with them!

Shimanami Cycling tour one-off experience – great!
My friend and I did the Shimanami bike tour in July last year, and it was incredible! I have never been a sporty person and was a bit worried about whether I could complete the tour, but it was perfectly doable and the Hidden Japan Travel were brilliantly supportive. We stayed in a lovely hotels with an onsen, and had a nice traditional food. I will certainly recommend this tour to anybody who wants to experience a very unique part of Japan! Great views, great tour!!
